The Pirates of Penzance

Following the sell-out success of our 2021 Trial by Jury, we return to Gilbert & Sullivan by popular demand, with an exuberant new production of The Pirates of Penzance, and a leading British cast. Packed full of memorable songs, stinging satire and sparkling wit, this razor-sharp comic hit holds as much relevance to contemporary life and politics, as it did when it was written!

Frederic, keen to leave his pirate indentures to marry his beloved Mabel after fulfilling 21 years of service, discovers he was actually born on a leap year. Join the rumbunctious Pirate King and his band of tender-hearted pirates, the Major General’s bumbling constabulary and a glutton of excitable maidens for a cacophony of hilarious adventures, in this up-close experience.

Our stunning British cast includes David Horton (recent credits for Scottish Opera, Garsington Opera), Catriona Hewitson (Casilda, Gondoliers – Scottish Opera), Anne-Marie Owens (Royal Opera House, ENO, WNO, Glyndebourne), Matthew Siveter (5 lead G&S roles at the 2022 International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival).

Come & Sing The Pirates of Penzance!
If you love to sing – our Sunday 23rd Come & Sing event is not to be missed! With the chance to rehearse the chorus with one of the UK’s finest opera coaches, Phillip Thomas (Staff of English National Opera for 29 years), and sing with top professionals at the full matinee show. Please bring your own scores, (or let us know if you need help acquiring one).
